Richmond Ramblers

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection spread by infected ticks. These are common in the countryside, especially woodlands and parks with deer, such as Richmond Park and Bushy Park. To prevent tick bites wear long sleeved tops, trousers tucked into socks and closed shoes - not sandals. Avoid walking through long grass and dense vegetation. Check for bites. If you are bitten - remove the tick as soon as possible using a tick-removal tool, pulling firmly without twisting. Apply antiseptic cream and check for symptoms such as a rash around the site. See your doctor if you have symptoms.
