Change to monthly email/online programme

We are extremely grateful to our leaders for turning out in all weathers and for coping so admirably with cancellations due to lockdowns, rail strikes and extreme weather conditions. These difficulties have also had a detrimental impact on the numbers on walks, which has been disheartening after all the planning and preparation.

We have lost several leaders during the course of this year and there has been no response to our appeals for new leaders, or for volunteers to join the committee, or to help with the programme. I am standing down from the committee at the AGM and there is no-one to take over my various roles, which include overseeing the programme and producing the finalcopy. You will see that the new programme is only half full, which makes it difficult to justify the cost of printing and postage for paper copies. Taking into account the programme costs and the lack of volunteers, it will no longer be possible to produce a printed programme. From April 2023 walks will be published online only, and a copy emailed monthly to Members and Affiliates who have registered their email address with the Membership Secretary, Johann M – see page 1 of programme. A newsletter will go out by post and email twice a year.

I have agreed to organise walks from April – July 2023 to try and ensure a smooth transition, after which, someone else is needed to take over.

If you have any comments or would like to find out how you can help, please contact the Chair: Alan M  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)
